Women in Cyber Security

Cybersecurity protects computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from attacks. It's also called IT or electronic security.   Any technology deployed in an interconnected world is vulnerable to cyber security risks and cyber-attacks, and this growing threat must be managed.

RATIONALE

The Women in Cyber mentorship program will increase the number of cybersecurity professionals in East Africa, while also shifting mentalities and tackling systemic barriers that prevent broader inclusion of women in cybersecurity. Encourage women to take cybersecurity leadership roles and share best practices.

Women are underrepresented in technology, especially cybersecurity. Fewer females are interested in technology from early schooling, leading to fewer women choosing cybersecurity as a career in industry or academia.
